The impact of process-oriented approaches and cognition is lacking in emerging economies. This paper empirically investigates the impact of process-oriented approach of Metacognition to opportunity recognition. This research empirically answers the call to explore the direct and mediation effects of Metacognition on opportunity recognition. The sample was selected from enrolled students in the entrepreneurship program of a leading university in Balochistan. Findings reveal that among five Metacognition dimensions; Metacognition knowledge and choice are significantly related to opportunity recognition. Metacognition choice mediates the relationship between experience and opportunity recognition. The results present useful implications for practitioners and policy makers.
